Additional Characters & Backgrounds
All commissions begin as single-character illustrations with no background unless otherwise specified.Additional Characters:Each additional character is priced at 75% of the base price of the selected size and commission tier.
Excessive Detail & Complexity:Some character designs require significantly more time due to the amount of fine detail, layered elements, or intricate construction involved. These designs may incur a fee. Excessive detail fees typically range from +15% to +50% of the base priceThis is not about style preference — it is about time, precision, and scope. What Counts as Excessive Detail?A character may be considered overly detailed if they include multiple of the following:• Highly intricate outfits (layered armor, corsetry, straps, belts, buckles, lacing, chains, filigree)
• Heavy ornamentation (embroidery, engraved metals, runes, beadwork, gemstones)
• Repeating small elements across large areas (scale armor, lace patterns, tattoo coverage, dense textures)
• Complex hairstyles (micro-braids, beads woven into hair, elaborate updos, multiple accessories)
• Highly detailed wings, tails, horns, or mechanical components
• Multiple materials that each require distinct rendering (leather, metal, silk, sheer fabrics, fur)
• Designs that require precise symmetry or pattern matching across the body
• If a design would reasonably require significant zoom work across most of the illustration. What Does Not Count as Excessive Detail?• Clean, well-designed outfits with a clear visual hierarchy
• One or two detailed elements used as focal points
• Simple armor or clothing with limited embellishment
• Stylized or simplified patterning“Detailed” does not automatically mean “excessive.”
Poses & References:Pose references are welcome however, poses may be inspired by reference images but will not be copied or matched exactly. This ensures originality, avoids copyright issues, and allows the pose to better suit the character and composition.
Background Options:
No Background / Simple Options (Included)All commissions may be delivered with one of the following:• Transparent background
• Solid color background
• Simple color gradients
• Shapes or geometric framesPlease specify your preference when commissioning. If none is stated, a neutral or transparent option will be used. These are decorative and non-environmental, designed to support the character without adding scene depth.
Complex Backgrounds (+75% of Base Price):Complex backgrounds include environmental or structural elements, such as:• Rooms or interiors
• Architecture or buildings
• Landscapes or natural settings
• Fully realized living spaces or scenesThese backgrounds involve perspective, lighting, and environmental storytelling and are priced accordingly.
Foreground Elements (+25% of Base Price):Foreground elements add depth in front of the character and may include:• Furniture
• Plants or foliage
• Props interacting with the scene
• Decorative environmental elementsForeground pricing is separate from background pricing and may be combined with complex backgrounds if requested.
Reference RequirementsClear references are essential for an accurate and efficient commission. Your references act as the visual foundation for your piece — unclear or conflicting material may cause delays or require additional clarification. What to Provide• Quality over quantity:
One clear, high-quality reference is better than multiple rough or low-detail images. Key details (hair, face, clothing, markings) should be easy to see.• Clear, Plain Language:When providing written descriptions, please use clear, straightforward terms. Avoid obscure vocabulary, biological terminology, or highly abstract descriptions. Simple, direct language (colors, materials, shapes, textures) is far more effective than poetic or technical wording.• Consistency:
All references should agree with each other. If any reference differs from the final design, it must be clearly noted. Please specify which elements are accurate and which should be ignored or overridden.• Clear labeling:
If you provide multiple images, label them (e.g., “Hair,” “Eyes,” “Outfit”) so there’s no ambiguity.• Visual references preferred:
Clean drawings, reference sheets, or clear photos work best. Written descriptions and mood boards are welcome in addition to visual references.• Written descriptions (when visuals aren’t available):
If you do not have visual references, written descriptions must be clear and specific. Descriptions should focus on concrete visual details such as hair style and color, eye color, skin tone, clothing, materials, markings, and overall build.Vibes, themes, or emotional descriptions alone are not sufficient without clear visual information.• Hand-Drawn References:
Hand-drawn references are fine as long as they are clear and readable. Very rough sketches or doodles may require additional clarification.• Reference Sheets:
If you have a complete, high-quality character reference sheet or a previous professional illustration that clearly shows all necessary details, no additional references are needed.
